Alternators don’t go bad in a day. There will be plenty of warning signs beforehand to indicate the upcoming failure. Here are a few signs that will let you know whether it’s time to switch out your current alternator for a better one –
Battery Light Stays On
If you look at the dashboard and notice that the battery warning light is pretty much on 24/7, it’s time to check for a faulty alternator. Because if the battery isn’t receiving enough power, the alternator isn’t keeping up with the volt capacity.
There are two ways to determine whether the problem lies with the alternator or the battery.
One. Take the engine to full power slowly and keep an eye on the dashboard for the battery light. If the light continues to get dimmer and dimmer, then it’s likely an alternator issue.
